Summer 2019 has been a busy time for us, engaging with many collaborators and exploring diverse dimensions of film fan tourism in Southeast Asia. We kicked off June with Prof. Kate Taylor-Jones's second visit to Rilca at the beginning of the month. During the visit we met with many people working in the film industries particularly film location company and crew, as well as artists, researchers, curators who are exploring the landscape of Southeast Asia in various ways. These include:

• A wonderful and fruitful chat with Nicholas Simon (executive producer of Indochina Productions) who kindly shared with us insights in film location scounting in Southeast Asia from the business and practical side of things. • A visit to Nova Gallery for an exhibition called 'You lead me down the Ocean' by a leading contemporary artist Tada Hengsapkul, curated by art history academic Thanavi Chotpradit. Hengsapkul explores Cold war memories through letters sent by Thai soldiers back home to their wives and kids from Vietnam. The visual highlight is the underwater video shot from the real site in the Thai ocean of the decayed tanks (its gun still points to the audience's direction) once owned by the Thai Army for use in the border dispute with Cambodia, now is a home for fish. • A visit to Warehouse 30 for the openning of the Taiwan LGBT film festival in Bangkok with the talk by Jay Lin, founder of Gagaoolala, Asia's first LGBTQ film streaming platform, who is also involved with other activists to push for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Taiwan. Lin's illustates a very illuminating business model that incorporates the ecosystem of distribution & production of film content as well as advocacy and community.

Through these activities our film fan tourism project could grow through layers of collaborations and activities from ground-based film industry/SEA production companies, working with artists and curators to unpack layers of history buried on and underneath the sites and well as incorporating digital platforms for wider public engagement for the project. These areas could be expanded further in our future reserach work together!
