A lecture series on visual cultures, film tourism and fan practices

At the end of March and early April, Dr. Wikanda Promkhuntong gave lectures at Kasetsart University and Chulalongkorn University on different aspects of fan practices and film tourism.

The 9-hour sessions stretching over 3 weeks at Kasetsart University focuses on visual cultures and tourism for B.A. Integrated Tourism Management (International Program). Students were very enthusiastic to be exposed to various debates in sociology, visual art, film and media studies, which illuminate on tourism and landscape in various ways.

The session at Chulalongkorn University for BALAC students focused on fan cultures with an additional aspect of fan tourism towards the end of the lecture. Students were particularly interested to engage in conversations on the affective dimensions of tourist experiences. These classes are a great way to engage students in conversations related to our film fan tourism projects!

Look forward to sharing more of the project with academic friends at the upcoming conference in June in Singapore and a talk on fan tourism in Thailand in September!
